After completing his B.Com from Ravenshaw College and LL.B from Madhusudan Law College, Cuttack he pursued Cost Accountancy from the Institute of Cost Accountants, London. While working as a an Accountant and Cost Accountant in Kalinga Tubes Ltd, Guest Keen Williams Ltd, he was asked by the Late Biju Patnaik to expand Costing education in the state. He joined the Costing College as visiting Professor in the evening hours as the college was running in the evening shift in Ravenshaw College, Cuttack. Some year later he joined as a Full Time Principal of the Costing College which was subsequently shifted to Jobra.
He introduced a number of Management Diploma and Degree courses in the state like Bank Management, Industrial Relations and Management, Financial Management. Under his dynamic leadership the college achieved a distinct position in the state as a center of Management education. Well known for expanding costing education, the college was renamed as College of Accountancy and Management Studies(CAMS) in the state functioning under Industries Department, Government of Odisha. His strong passion for Costing education led him to be the first chairman of the Eastern India Regional Council of Cost Accountants (EIRC), Kolkata. He was designated as the first Director, Management Education in the state, the post being abolished after his retirement from Government service in the year 1988.
